Before becoming an Orthopaedic surgeon, Dr George represented Australia in ice hockey, competing at the national and international level. His background as an athlete and later as a physiotherapist working with elite sporting teams has shaped his deep understanding of performance, injury, rehabilitation, and the importance of clear communication between patients, clinicians, and support staff.
Dr George now serves as the Chief Medical Officer of Ice Hockey Australia and sits on state sporting committees, including SASMA, contributing to sports medicine governance and athlete welfare across South Australia.
This connection to high-performance sport is reflected in the very name of the practice: STAR — Sports Trauma, Arthroplasty & Reconstruction. It captures the full spectrum of Dr George’s expertise, from acute sports injuries to advanced joint replacement surgery.
